In Celebration of Haiku Poetry Day

Happy April 17, Haiku Poetry Day. Here are a few haiku things worth sharing today.

1. My dear friend Lib Ramos has been quietly building an incredible independent publisher called Good Printed Things for the past few years. Today she announced their first haiku collection with local midwife Janelle Alier, who has a practice of writing a haiku poem after each birth she attends. I’m excited to read more, and pick up the letterpress edition when it releases!

   

2. In case you missed it, I finally gave Haiku Pickup Lines a proper online home.

   

   Coincidentally, I discovered I only have about 10 copies left of Volume 1’s first edition, so snag ’em while you can! They’ll all come signed. I’m going to reprint Volume 1 soon in a pocket-sized 4×6" format (which is also what Volume 2 will be).

4. And speaking of silly side projects that turn into real things with even sillier URLs, years ago I had an app idea for a haiku writing app, but the developer gave up when thinking through how many edge cases syllable counting creates. But thanks to knowing enough to be dangerous, and Claude pitching in, I built haiku.baby in a few hours yesterday and today. Here are the details…
